“First Contact, five years later. A momentous event in Earth’s history. Forever linking us to the cosmos. Are we better off, or worse off, ever since the aliens landed?”

Almost every science fiction book dealing with aliens seems to ask the above question, along with a gripping fear that: “This is an unequal power situation. Eventually, we, the human race, will lose in the end.” It would be wrong, however, to say that Scott’s book offers nothing new to us. First and foremost, unlike a lot of science fiction books which tend to be boring, the text of this book is griping and exciting. The tale grips the readers’ attention and then refuses to let go of him. It has credible characters; for instance, you have a guilty and remorseful doctor, for whom memories of his past don’t do him any good and the atmosphere at home (himself divorced, with sick children, and a live-in partner) is anything but congenial. Dr. Thorning has got a huge responsibility on his shoulders: to save the earth and humanity from a breed of aliens who had come to earth as peaceful, friendly creatures but soon their real intentions became clear: they have come to colonize the planet. And as you would expect there are bad guys, Dr. Becker and Dr. Time to stop him to succeed in his mission. Will the old doctor be able to save the earth and undo what he had done in another timeline? Read “Bridge Through Time” to find out! The book, while nothing outstanding, offers quite a decent fare in terms of story, plot and mainly, action. The ending is left somewhat unresolved, perhaps on purpose?

The final question: “Will we meet again on the other side?”
