A country like the USA is made up of many nations. All these people who have immigrated from various parts of the world bring their own unique culture with them It is not just the immigrants but also the American Indians, and the long established Black Americans, who bring a specific ethnic and cultural background to any relationships. All these different cultures make for interesting aspects in a relationship. Not only culture but different religions also play their part.

As our world gets smaller inter racial relationships are becoming more common. Nations of every color and creed are now forming relationships that could never have happened a short while ago. This makes it necessary for us to be aware of different cultures and religions as we form relationships. There are many different aspects and ideologies to consider.

Some cultures revere the man and push him into a dominant role. It is very important to understand this factor if you are from more liberal egalitarian culture. For example in the USA the woman holds an unprecedented position in regards to freedom and liberation, whereas, in many countries in the East and Middle East the woman will always serve the man.

This can be quite a culture shock to both parties when opposite poles like this are attracted to each other. It takes sacrifices on both sides to adapt and form a meaningful relationship. It is very important to understand your partner's ethnic background before letting a relationship get too advanced.

Once both of you can understand the basic differences in your mutual culture you can then start to think of ways you can both adapt. Compromises and sacrifices are necessary from both sides, but traditionally it is often the women who must adapt the most. It is no good entering a relationship with these types of differences and expect that only your partner must change, it must be a mutual understanding and if necessary compromise.

Religion is a large issue with many as it is very hard for a lot of people to change their beliefs. These ideals are often very deep and fixed in a person's inner soul and cannot be changed in a hurry. Some find it impossible to change their religion and this should be understood in a relationship.

It is most important for a good relationship that ethnic and cultural ideals should not be forced on your partner. If you enter into a multi racial or cultural relationship never try to force your ideology on your partner. Even if they agree this could be sowing the seeds for trouble down the road. Ideologies and cultural ideas are very deep seated and should always be respected. This will make a far better relationship.

When a relationship becomes deeper then the partners often are able to merge or even convert their cultural and religious ideals. This is when a deeper bond can be formed and can become permanent.
Cross culture and inter religious ideologies make for interesting relationships and many people seek out people from different backgrounds and cultures to form relationships with. Some of the best relationships are formed like this, however you should always have a mutual understanding of each other's values to make this interesting relationships work.
